I just can't seem to get any kind of foothold and can't go a year without being ousted even playing a "relatively easy" character. If I raise taxes, I get more rebellions and less soldiers, so I don't actually get to collect on the taxes since my vassals attack me. I can't seem to make any money either, so I can't build anything or hire mercenaries to help me. I attack the rebels and invariably get my ass handed to me, even if I have the larger army.
Most times I try playing, I pick to play as a king whose difficulty rating is "relatively easy", and within one year, one of my vassals will rebel, suddenly raise a 1,000+ strong army and kick the crap out of me! I raise all my personal and vassal levies, but it amounts to about 1,000 people.
I can't seem to make money or build any kind of armies. I'm not great at strategy games, but I'm having particular difficulty with this one.
